About Reciprocal Licensing - Elevator Safety Review

The Maryland Elevator Safety Review Board currently has a reciprocal agreement with the state of Virginia. Individuals who hold a current and valid Elevator license in good standing in Virginia can reciprocate an equivalent license to Maryland. The reciprocal agreement acknowledges the Virginia licensing standards are equivalent to those in Maryland, and if the license was received by an approved apprenticeship program or through examination, an applicant may qualify to reciprocate the license to Maryland. In order to obtain a Maryland Elevator license through reciprocity, an applicant must complete a licensing application, and must also obtain a verification letter from the Virginia Department of Professional and occupational Regulation.
