Use this Guide to Common Work Authorization Documents for New Americans to learn more about common documents that many New Americans may present.

The Skilled Immigrant Task Force created a Staff Resource Guide for Skilled Immigrants in Maryland for service providers who are working to support work-authorized internationally trained professionals. It includes resources that are available to skilled immigrants nationally and additional support services in Maryland.

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for the Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning (DWDAL) at the Maryland Department of Labor (Labor) collaboratively developed this DWDAL-DUI Language Access Plan 2022 with input from Labor’s Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI), Local Workforce Development Areas (LWDAs), and Labor’s Office of Fair Practices (OFP). This Plan identifies how DWDAL and the statewide network of American Job Centers (AJCs), as well as Maryland’s DUI system, are working to ensure and improve service access for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) individuals.

To complement the DWDAL-DUI Language Access Plan 2022, the 2023 Language Access Plan Resource Guide was created to highlight applicable laws, strategies to access language needs, best practices in working with LEP customers and interpreters, detailed instruction of accessing the State’s contracted language assistance vendors, and available resources to aid in working with LEP customers.
